SOMOS LEGIÓN (2015)

The Song That Started It All

Every band has a beginning.

For Quemasantos, that beginning was Somos Legión.

Released on January 9, 2015, Somos Legión became the first official release under the Quemasantos name. Performed entirely in Spanish, the song introduced the band's heavy and thrash metal identity through aggressive riffs, memorable melodies, and lyrics that speak of unity, perseverance, and the strength to overcome adversity together.

The history of Somos Legión, however, began several years earlier.

Its original version first appeared in 2012 on the compilation La Educación, Nuestra Razón, released by Bocasucia.net under the name Pirosaint. When Quemasantos was formed, the song was revisited, re-recorded, and became the band's first official release, creating a bridge between Ignacio Orellana's past and the beginning of a new chapter.

Recorded at Oily Sound Studios in New Windsor, New York, the single featured Sr. Díaz (Vastator) on vocals, Bill Smith on guitars, Ron Buckner on bass, and Ignacio Orellana on drums, with a guest guitar solo performed by Sebastián Osorio. The recording was mixed and mastered by Ignacio Figueroa in Valparaíso, Chile.

One of the band's earliest international milestones came when Somos Legión was featured on a television show in Canada, introducing Quemasantos to a broader audience beyond the underground metal scene and becoming one of the band's first appearances in international media.

Five years later, the band revisited the song with a newly recorded version featuring Nelson Díaz and Gonzalo Rodríguez sharing vocal duties. Rather than replacing the original, the 2020 recording celebrated the band's growth while preserving the energy and message that made the song the foundation of Quemasantos.

Both versions were ultimately included on the band's debut full-length album, Quemasantos (2022), allowing listeners to experience the evolution of the song across two different periods in the band's history.

More than a debut single, Somos Legión is the cornerstone of Quemasantos. It represents the moment the band found its voice and the first step in a journey that continues to evolve today.

Lyrics

Invencible, real, consagrada
La verdad inmortal, revelada

Somos como una Hidra que jamás matarás
Cortas una cabeza y dos crecerán

Somos una legión, endemoniada
Que jamás podrá ser, erradicada
Somos una legión, no estoy solo
Nada ni nadie, nos doblegará

(Guitar Solo)

Somos una legión, endemoniada
Que jamás podrá ser, erradicada
Somos una legión, no estoy solo
Nada ni nadie, nos doblegará
