Quemasantos is an international metal project reborn from the underground with a renewed vision now writing and performing entirely in English. Formed in 2012, the band began as a Latin-metal collaboration between musicians from Brazil, Chile and New York City, releasing early material in Spanish that blended thrash and heavy metal with dark, socially charged lyrics.
In 2024, Quemasantos entered a new creative phase.
The music is now written, recorded, and produced by Ignacio Orellana (Pirosaint, ArmyOfOneTV) at Oily Sound Studios in New York City, while the concepts and lyrics are developed by Nelson Díaz, whose distinctive voice and thematic vision continue to drive the project’s identity. Together, they’ve reshaped Quemasantos into a global metal act darker, heavier, and lyrically more introspective than ever before.
The 2025 singles “Stalking Sharks,” “Under the Moonlight,” and “Burning the Black” mark the band’s English-language debut, exploring themes of war, grief, mortality, and psychological conflict through cinematic, thrash-driven soundscapes. “Stalking Sharks” represents their first composition fully conceived in English, while “Burning the Black” channels real-life loss into a cathartic expression of rage and mourning a song written and produced by Orellana as a tribute to personal tragedy.
Musically, Quemasantos combines thrash metal aggression, heavy grooves, and atmospheric depth with storytelling that bridges Latin roots and universal human experience. The band’s visual aesthetic dark, claustrophobic, and cinematic mirrors their lyrical exploration of fear, loss, and inner rebellion.
With Ignacio Orellana handling all instrumentation, recording, and production, and Nelson Díaz shaping the lyrical and conceptual core, Quemasantos continues to evolve as a fiercely independent project self-produced, self-released, and uncompromising.
